Ingredients

Pectin is a fibre found in fruit, giving their cells walls structure. As a dietary addition it provides soluble fibre, which turns to a gel-like substance in the digestive tract, where it can increase the stool volume and help to regulate the transit time of food.

Bromelain is a collection of enzymes found in the pineapple plant. These enzymes are proteolytic enzymes, which are protein-digesting. Native to Central and South America, pineapple was traditionally used in these cultures for the relief of digestive ailments.

Slipperly Elm is made from the bark of the Ulmus rubra tree, native to North America. The inner bark of this plant has been used in folk medicine for centuries as a digestive support due to its mucilage content. This polysaccharide forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract and is renowned for its soothing properties.

Green Bananas are largely made from starch, and the bulk of this is a resistant form of starch, meaning that is resists digestion. It contains high levels of insoluble fibre, which is important for good gut health as it is a primary food source for the good gut bacteria that lives there. As resistant starch ferments in the gut, it feeds the good bacteria in the microbiome, increasing their population and promoting gut symbiosis.

Ginger is the root of a plant native to Asia that has been used in Eastern medicine and home remedies for thousands of years. It is primarily renowned for its ability to provide relief from nausea and indigestion, but is also a rich source of antioxidants. Its fragrant aroma comes from the phenolic compounds called gingerols.

Fennel and fennel seeds are a rich source of fibre, which is a key ingredient for intestinal and digestive health. Fennel also contains high levels of manganese, a mineral that is involved in the metabolism of other nutrients, which is likely why fennel seeds are traditionally chewed after a large meal in some cultures, particularly in India.

Pumpkin is a nutritious vegetable well renowned for its ability to support a healthy digestive system. It contains both soluble and insoluble fibre but it is higher in soluble fibre, which dissolves in water and forms a gel. This slows the exit of food from the digestive system, unlike insoluble fibre, which adds bulk to stools and can speed up digestive transit.
